Rimini, 27th April 2009 - Yesterday in Rimini, the first edition ended of the WHITE AND BLUE show of yachting and luxury that transformed Marina Blu, the Romagna town’s new marina, into the Mediterranean’s most exclusive salon for four days.

From 23rd to 26th April, the demand of 200 Italian and international buyers met a the supply from the “big names” of the 67 boatyards with boats in the water (Abacus Marine, Adria Yachts Group, Aicon, Albatros, Atlantis, Arimar, Bavaria, Cantieri di Sarnico, Cigarette, Colombo, Compagnia delle Vele, Enterprise Marine, Ferretti Yacht, F.lli Franchini, Franchini Yachts, Free Shark, Galeon, IBS Yachts, Innovazioni e Progetti, International, Master Yachts, Mochi Craft, Nanni Sald, Princess, Pursuit, Regal, Rimini Yacht, Riva, Riviera Marine, Royal Charter, San Marco, Sea Horse, Sly Yacht, Tiara Yachts, Viking Yachts…), and (on the 12,000 m2 of space on the quays and the raised terrace at Marina Blu) that from luxury’s key brands (Jaguar, Marina Yachting, Rolex…).

WHITE AND BLUE hosted 520 business meetings, which included particularly interesting ones with the guests from Eastern Europe, with whom 70 concrete negotiations were begun.

There was therefore full confirmation of the interest of nations from that area in the yachting market, ably seen and amply exploited by Rimini Fiera, which, with this appointment, has ratified the resolute arrival of Russians and e Slavs among the yachtsmen who will sail our seas in the coming seasons.

There were more than 80 sea trials, with which boatbuilders were able to demonstrate the characteristics and qualities of the boats moored in the new marina to potential buyers, many of whom also visited the boatyards directly, accompanied by the 10 Jaguars that enhanced the roads of the Romagna capital with their elegance.

So, at sea and ashore, the cars and the boats that were the “queens of style and elegance” of WHITE AND BLUE welcomed and spoiled the show’s Italian and foreign guests.

As well as trade members and buyers, WHITE AND BLUE was also attended by 10,527 buffs.

There were also 95 journalists accredited in the press room, ensuring exceptional media coverage: from Italy’s large daily papers (media partner QN, plus Corriere della Sera, Repubblica, Gazzetta dello Sport, Sole 24 Ore…) to the large national radios (media partner Capital and then Radio Rai, Radio 24…), televisions (media partner 7 Gold, as well as (at the marina) the cameras of TG1, TG3, Mediaset, LA7, Class Life…), plus regional and local media and specialist press, out in full force.

There was also great success for the most elegant and exclusive aspect of the expo: the Quintessentially Blue Terrace hosted  400 guests of honour, involved in tasting sessions of cigars, rum, vodka, chocolate cru, caviar…

There was also great feedback for WHITE AND BLUE’s B-SIDE which featured conferences organized by Assomarinas, Assonautica and  A+D+M, as well as with dozens of events (not only at the marina, but also in the coolest venues along Rimini’s shoreline) and 4 gala evenings at Molo 22, the Club Nautico, Grand Hotel and Rock Island.

STATEMENTS

Rimini Fiera chairman Lorenzo Cagnoni stated, “Our expo set itself two objectives - to be an effective instrument at the disposal of the market’s trade member which now, more than ever before, need concreteness and great attention for all aspects of their business, and to pay an important tribute to the socio-economic features of the Romagna area which, for its history, morphology and character, is closely bound to yachting. We believe we scored on both counts and trade members confirmed this, right from the first edition. We can therefore state with serenity and awareness that WHITE AND BLUE will become an appointment with unique features, consolidated and eagerly awaited by the trade, as are Genoa, Cannes and Dusseldorf.”

Rimini Fiera business unit 1 manager Patrizia Cecchi continued, “In a difficult period for the market such as the present situation, the presence of so many boatbuilders at a new show not yet a well-known date on the calendar of traditional yachting appointments is yet another success today, thanks to the volume and number of deals that took off, we can calculate the effective business value that the participation of each boatbuilder brought to the expo and which the trade members were able to obtain from it.”

Fabio De Santis, the expo’s development manager, added, “Our event’s format was seen to be a winner, thanks also to the fact that it is extraordinarily innovative: business, business, business, but with great attention to everything orbiting round it, remembering that whoever sells boats also sells dreams, poetry and passion.”
